PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

5-Aza-2'-Deoxycytidne Application Notes 5-Aza-2'-Deoxycytidine has been founf to induce changes in the differentiated state of cultured mouse embryo cells and additionally inhibits DNA methyltransferase (Dnmt). DNA methylation has been noted to be important in determining apoptotic susceptibility to histone deacetylase inhibitors, and its prevention can cause gene silencing and transcriptional repression. Other studies suggest that cell exposure to 5-Aza-2'-Deoxycytidine causes a change in replication timing, reactivation of repressed genes, and decondensation of heterochromatin. Furthermore, this agent demonstrates the ability to induce histone hyperacetylation in murine centromeric heterochromatin and also affect intranuclear distribution of histone deacetylase 2 Usage Statement Unless specified otherwise, MP Biomedical's products are for research or further manufacturing use only, not for direct human use. Biochemical Physiological Actions : 5'-Azadeoxycytidine causes DNA demethylation or hemi-demethylation. DNA demethylation can regulate gene expression by "opening" the chromatin structure detectable as increased nuclease sensitivity. This remodeling of chromatin structure allows transcription factors to bind to the promoter regions, assembly of the transcription complex, and gene expression.
