Potassium Iodide Application Notes Potassium iodide is used in organic synthesis for the preparation of Aryl iodides and Iodo alkanes. It is used in biochemistry, often as a fluorescence quenching agent which acts by collisional quenching of fluorescent substances by the iodide ion. It is also used in extraction of single stranded DNA.
