Starch Application Notes Starch is used as an additive for food processing, food starches are typically used as thickeners and stabilizers. Starch is used to produce various bioplastics, synthetic polymers that are biodegradable. An example is polylactic acid. Glucose from starch can be further fermented to biofuel corn ethanol. Hydrogen production can use starch as the raw material.
