Application Notes
Starosporin is use to study the involvement of protein kinases in signal transduction pathways. It arrests normal cells in the G1 checkpoint.Starosporin is used as a potent inhibitor of Protein kinase C and other protein kinases in vitro and in cultured cells, an inducer of apoptosis in many mammalian cell types.

Biochemical Physiological Actions
: Potent inhibitor of phospholipid/calcium-dependent protein kinase. Inhibits the upregulation of VEGF expression in tumor cells. Partially reverses MDR, sensitizing cells with MDR phenotype to cytotoxic agents. Inhibits Pgp phosphorylation. However, functional significance of Pgp phosphorylation is ill defined.
